Insulfrax® LTX is specified as a bio-soluble AES insulation blanket wherever a full high-temperature grade is not required. Typical placements include back-up insulation behind a refractory hot face, secondary insulation in furnace and process equipment, expansion joints and thermal barriers in cyclically heated assemblies. The needled, binder-free mat stays flexible enough to wrap around curves, penetrations and complex geometries during installation. The fibre is an alkaline-earth silicate composition (AES, mainly SiO₂ with CaO and MgO), giving a classification temperature of 1200°C and a continuous-use limit around 1100°C. Mean fibre diameter is approximately 4 μm. Insulfrax® LTX complies with Note Q of European Regulation EC/1272/2008 and is therefore not classified as carcinogenic under that regulation.
