Vacuum Shaped Parts

Vacuum-formed ceramic-fibre components for complex geometries in high-temperature installations

Vacuum shaped parts close the gap between what a wrapped or cut fibre blanket can deliver and what a pressed board already covers: complex 3D geometries — cylinders, cones, hollow shapes, burner blocks, preforms — with higher density and mechanical strength than a textile insulation fill, but keeping the low thermal conductivity of ceramic fibre. Typical applications are burner blocks and burner outlets, insulation cones, preforms for heavy-aluminium casting runners, body parts of heating modules, and insulating elements in induction and resistance furnaces. For repeating volume work, this is usually a stronger technical and commercial route than machining the same shape from solid block.

In the manufacturing process, ceramic fibres are drawn from a water-based slurry onto a forming tool under vacuum, then cured with an inorganic or organic binder system. Where dimensional accuracy matters, parts are CNC machined to final tolerance. Available temperature classes run from AES (typically up to 1300°C) to RCF (typically up to 1430°C); some standard-line builds stay within the 1100°C service window. Densities typically lie between 250 and 400 kg/m³, produced to drawing in series or as prototypes.
